Unlearning Drawing
Explore new perspectives within the drawing process with artist Kieran Walsh
Venue: Real Art Make Print at Ocean Studios
Description
Unlearning Drawing is a workshop designed to take us back to square one and recover an approach to drawing which is direct, simple and intuitive. We will be combining theory and practise. First looking at and discussing artworks by different people, looking all the way back to prehistory; We will be focusing on drawing as a means of communication as opposed to ‘finished artwork’, and asking what and how have these people managed to communicate through their drawings. And then we will be drawing ourselves; using a number of drawing activities designed to put us back at square one, where we ask, how on earth do I draw that? And where we have no frame of reference to lean on, of how it is ‘supposed’ to be drawn. Unlearning Drawing is very much a group or collaborative workshop, we will be pushing out into new territory together and discussing our outcomes as we go.
