RESIDENCY BEHIND THE SCENES: CREATIVITY IN MOTION

At RAMP, one of our core missions is to support emerging creatives as they navigate the often uncertain space between education and professional practice. We understand that finishing a course can feel like standing at the edge of a vast, open landscape — full of possibility, but also lacking the structure many artists rely on to thrive.
That’s where our residency programme comes in: offering not just space and facilities, but a vibrant, collaborative community to help bridge that gap.

 A Residency Rooted in Collaboration

Our current residency cohort has been nothing short of inspiring — a group of artists who’ve embraced experimentation, collaboration, and creative risk-taking. As their time with us draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on their journey and the incredible work they’ve produced ahead of their end-of-residency exhibition.

From contributing to Print in Action to exploring new intersections in screenprinting, RISO, and lino, this group has truly made the most of their time at RAMP. They’ve connected with our resident artists like Matt Holmes and Barton Hargreaves sparking conversations and collaborations that will continue beyond the studio walls.

Highlights from

the Studio

  • Grace Beswick has extended her practice into the wider city, engaging with the Green Communities initiative, supported by the National Trust’s Blossom Funding.
  • Charley Dyson returned to her roots in monoprinting, inspired by conversations with studio holder Llyr Davies
  • Melanie Davies took a bold step by attending her first print fair with us.
  • Zara McDermott is preparing to debut her work at the iconic Market Hall for Native Makers.

Meanwhile, Rosie Peridikeas has been developing a performance piece in collaboration with local dancers, inviting fellow resident Emily Chung Wing Sum to join the process to expand on her own performance work. Richard Carter has been exploring how collaborative making can extend his architecture practice, and Asher Ross has been a key part of the RISO area for @Print_in_action.

Looking Ahead

This residency has been a space for growth, experimentation, and connection — and we’re incredibly proud of what this cohort has achieved. Their work is a testament to the power of community and the importance of giving artists the time and tools to explore.

We can’t wait to share their final showcase with you. Stay tuned for details on the end-of-residency exhibition — and come see what happens when emerging artists are given the freedom to create, collaborate, and thrive.
