These sessions are for people who want to paint from observation using a life drawing format with models.

In addition to his weekly life drawing classes with us at RAMP, Kieran Walsh will now also be running a monthly Saturday workshop. These workshops will expand upon the theme of working from life, encompassing new material approaches and subject matter.

These sessions will include working from a nude model and explore acrylic paint, oil paint and clay. This is a great chance for artists of all levels of experience, to enhance their observational skills, and explore the possibilities of painting from life.

November – Painting with Oil paint. This session is about exploring the use of oil paints whilst drawing from life.

All materials are included in ticket price.

December – Modelling Clay – date TBC

About Kieran Walsh

” Kieran has been living and working as an artist in Plymouth since 2012. He received his BA in Fine Art from the University of Plymouth, studied at The Royal Drawing School on the Drawing Intensive, before gaining his MA in Painting from Arts University Plymouth. He has taught life drawing at AUP, the University of Plymouth, Harbour House in Kingsbridge, as well as running his own weekly life drawing class with us at Ocean studios, and taught painting and drawing on the Totnes Art & Design Foundation.

“I think that my approach has something positive to offer, in that it is based on keen observation, as well as honesty and integrity to the subject. But without being academic or prescriptive. Criticism and how we judge artworks is very important to me, not based on literal accuracy, or any particular art style, but rather the level of engagement with the subject and the individual ways in which we can all translate that engagement into physical form through painting, drawing and sculpture.”

These workshops are open to all and participants are free to attend individual sessions, or join us for each one.

All materials included.
